Indelibly written in my mind are the dances these people made—moments that the performers and I could have never foreseen, practiced or consciously created. These moments were not arrived at by theatrical tricks but with much trial and awkwardness and from the ingenuity of everyone in the room. If you watched carefully… it was all there unfolding. The brains were all working, picking out things and people in the room… pushing the dance forward.
In this way, the dance was indeterminate. There was no planned beautiful image to take home, no singular story. What it was…was undeniably live—connections and experience made and forged in the moment by the will of people making a dance.
